GERM SWEEPER MISSION STATEMENT:
Our equipment is designed to sanitize all surfaces within seconds to eliminate and reduce the risk of contamination and illness with considerable focus on industries, institutions and environments exceptionally susceptible to contagious viruses and bacterial infection. Efficacy, ease of operation and portability are key development goals.
RISK ASSESSMENT (Dual Use Application/Explanation): The world is constantly barraged by threatening news that we are in the midst of a deadly avian flu outbreak. Several years ago it was the swine flu, a few years ago it was a potentially deadly form of influenza (SARS) and last year it was the Avian flu.
Anthrax and other bio threats such as once considered extinct third world diseases have received media attention as well and pose a real and viable threat to the world’s general health and security.
Indeed some estimates from the US Government claim that the Avian flu virus has the potential to kill millions of people here in the USA should it jump species and there is nothing formulated that can safely immunize people against it. Granted, the avian flu was more hype than reality but the fact remains that our antibiotics are failing us and we are in a crisis mode as we try and control staph (MRSA) and the mutated strains of diseases we thought were gone forever.
Clearly, this and many other microbial threats from third world, natural and terrorist sources are a high priority for Homeland Security. It is estimated that one in five Russian prisoners are infected with TB and few South or Central American countries have regular immunization programs that efficiently immunize the majority of their populations. Russia now has a strain of TB that is 50% fatal.
With the influx of tens of thousands of un-immunized and undocumented immigrants flooding our country monthly, the risks of epidemic from diseases we thought we had eradicated are once again a reality.
Hospitals are in the midst of an uphill battle when it comes to fighting staph and other seemingly unconquerable and highly infectious bacteria and assorted viruses that can mutate up to 10% within each host. Over 90,000 people die annually in hospitals from secondary infections contracted from staph and other bacteria unrelated to reasons they were initially being treated for.
Recent tests have shown that UVC “in-line” duct fixtures substantially help curb this threat in all buildings including hospitals. Germ Sweeper portable and mounted fixtures can be effectively used to reduce exposure to germs in all medical facility environments from the waiting room to the hospital bed and all stations in- between.
Efficacy of the UVC lights used in Germ Sweeper fixtures (kills surface bacteria and viruses in less than a second in many instances):
ULTRAVIOLET DOSE: The UV dose is the product of UV intensity (expressed as energy per unit surface area) and residence time. Therefore: - DOSE = Intensity x Time. This is commonly expressed as micro Watt second/cm2 at 1 meter. The output of the UV-C lamp is measured from a distance of 1 m. To evaluate the output of energy at distances different than 1 m then an intensity factor is used.

Lamp UV output expressed in micro watts at 1 m * intensity factor/required dosage/60 seconds = the time required for a 99.9% kill.
Example:
E-coil (bloody diarrhea) required dosage of UV-C energy = 6600 mW.
At 2 in. the intensity factor = 32.3.
Germs Sweeper Deluxe UV output = 42.0 mW.
42.0 * 32.3 = 1356.6
6600/1365.6 = 4.865/60 seconds =0.08 seconds for 99% kill.
